  • Internet Explorer Web Browser End of Support!

       (1 review)

News is that Internet Explorer will no longer be supported. Internet Explorer has been clinging to life for a lot longer than many anticipated. It uses an archaic rendering engine, has numerous vulnerabilities that impact both security and privacy, requires workarounds to get it to work with many websites, including ours, and has been surpassed by Microsoft's own newer Edge browsers (in two versions.) Microsoft has announced that support for Internet Explorer 11 will end August 17, 2021. At that time, all products under the Microsoft umbrella which may currently still use Internet Explorer, such as Outlook, OneDrive or Office 365 will stop supporting the browser. Support for Internet Explorer within the Microsoft Teams web app ends November 30 of this year. Meanwhile, the legacy edition of Microsoft Edge is set to end March 9, 2021.

Most website nowadays fully supports all mainstream modern browsers, however as of the upgrade it will no longer support Internet Explorer in any shape or form. If you continue to use Internet Explorer after the upgrade then you do so at your own peril. No support will be given for it. If you currently use Internet Explorer to access website's then there's never been a better time to switch to a newer and better browser. Here are some great options:

    Google Chrome (my personal choice)

The world's most successful web browser, packed full of features with a modern rendering engine: https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/

    Mozilla Firefox

A privacy and security focused browser, with a feature set to match its focus and a fast rendering engine:   https://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/

    Microsoft Edge

Now available based on Chromium, it's a fast and efficient browser, has plenty of features, a modern rendering engine and synchronises with your Microsoft account (the same one as used for Windows 10, if you use that feature): https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge

Since its release in July 2015 for PC, and following a rebuilt as a Chromium-based browser in 2019, Microsoft Edge has been praised as a great alternative to Internet Explorer, but seeing as private users already have had an alternative to Internet Explorer for years, not a lot of people actually seem to use it and that's not necessarily because it uses Blink as its engine. People actually still using Internet Explorer are enterprise customers whose digital infrastructure depends on the browser. Those customers can still access pages built for IE11 using an Internet Explorer legacy mode within Microsoft Edge.

But I'd encourage any Internet Explorer users to switch browsers now and give yourselves plenty of time to get used to using a new browser before the Internet Explorer support is officially dropped.

It's a shame that Microsoft are no longer supporting customers that choose to use internet explorer. There are some people including the older generation who are not comfortable with using Edge. It takes time to get used to

    • Elden Ring  remains one of the most played games in the last 5 years. A game that was developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Elden Ring, an RPG based game, was developed after successes recorded by the studio when they made games such as Dark Souls, Sekiro:Shadows Die Twice, and Bloodborne This game, released in early 2022, became the household favourite as a result of its challenging gameplay and competitiveness.

In the game, players take on the role of a fallen warrior assigned the role of reclaiming the Elden Ring in order to become the Elden Lord. Basically, the story unfolds in a non-linear manner, with lore pieces spread throughout the world, encouraging exploration and rewarding curiosity.
Elden Ring retains the punishing difficulty characteristics of games created by FromSoftware and has an addition of more open-world approach. The lands are vast and give players freedom to explore. This also makes the combat to be fluid with a series of weapons, abilities, and spells at the player's disposal.

Elden Ring has amazing graphics built-in and has challenges that even make the most seasoned players sit up with options for multplayers being competitive as well.

Succinctly, Elden Ring is a success in the RPG genre as a result of its challenging gameplay, interesting storyline, and a beautifully crafted open world. For these, one would agree with me that Elden Ring is a must play for fans of RPG type of games. A decision not to be regretted.

    • Does anyone here still have an original Xbox? I got one for free a few years ago from one of my coworkers. She thought the console wasn't working, but it turns out the av cables were faulty. Best of all, it was already modded and had a few emulators on it! Though the mod itself is pretty old. It's also one of the later models that doesn't have the issue with the clock capacitor leaking so I'm luck in that regard too! I think it's worth getting an original Xbox since not every original Xbox game runs on the 360 let alone not everyone even has a 360.

    • I recently upgraded to using Xbox Elite 2 Controller and it feels so good using it. It's high time they get rid of the AAA batteries used in my former controller. Also, I like the textured grip this controller is designed.

What do you think about Elite Controller 2?

    • What are your favorite N64 games? For me you have some of the hunch as Goldeneye, Mario Kart, Super Mario 64. I also really liked Pilot Wings and Destruction Derby 64 which were a bit lesser known
